If you're contemplating travel to Las Vegas - beware of the
limousine service you choose. When you first walk outside
you'll likely find a small building where you can quickly get a ride
from the Airline Limousine Corp. Having used their services
before, I would urge you to reconsider before enlisting their
services. They'll entice you with what seems, at the time, to
be a great deal, you pay a nominal fee for your trip to your hotel,
and they'll give you a token which is good for your return trip to
the airport. To the unsuspecting traveler it seems like a deal
that's just too convenient to pass up, after all, no waiting in line
for a taxi, no worrying about how you'll get back to the airport,
just a quick phone call the night before to establish your pickup
time and you're set. If only it were so simple.
I should have known something was amiss right away when the
driver of the shuttle asked me and my party to remain outside the
bus until others had boarded so our luggage could be put on after
those passengers staying at further away hotels. Having been
stuck on an airplane for the past several hours, a few more minutes
of standing had a certain level of appeal. Once the bus was
full, the driver informed us as such, and told us we would have to
wait for the next shuttle. Apparently, he'd not only forgotten that
he'd already taken our money, he'd also forgotten that he'd told us to wait
to board. Needless to say we were not amused, and we were even
less amused by the rude and inconsiderate attitude we received
thereafter from the driver. Refusing to wait for another bus,
we were left with only the option of standing in the isle on the bus
to our hotel. Once we arrived at our hotel, things seemed to
move more smoothly, and the days that followed lessened our disgust
with our initial service.
As requested, the night before our departure, we called to
inform the company of our desired pickup time - allowing plenty of
time for potential delays, airport check-in, etc. After
waiting over an hour past our scheduled pickup time - we called
Airline Limousine Corp. to inquire as to the status of our expected
transportation. Much to our dismay, we were informed that they
had no record of our pending departure. When we asked when we
could expect a re-scheduled shuttle to arrive, we were disheartened to
learn that our best chance for pickup was another hour away, and
that was only a chance, they couldn't guarantee anything. Now
well over an hour past our scheduled departure time, the urgency to
reach the airport in time to make our flight won out over our
compelling desire to use the ride we'd already paid for earlier in
the week. So we flagged the nearest taxi, and departed.
When we received the fare for our short cab ride from the strip,
what was already becoming clear became painfully obvious - our
decision to use the Airline Limousine Corp. was a complete waste of
money. Not only was it faster taking a cab directly to the
airport, because we didn't have to stop at every hotel on or off the
strip the other passengers on the bus were staying at, but our fare
was LESS EXPENSIVE than HALF of what we'd paid the Airline Limousine Corp!!
Once at the airport, we stopped at the very same booth where we began
our unfortunate relationship with Airline Limousine Corp. to ask for
a refund for the return portion of our trip, we were refused.
Despite the horrendous service and the missed pickup, they were
content in knowing that they'd already taken our money and weren't
the least bit concerned with customer satisfaction.
Upon our return trip, we sent repeated letters and made
countless phone calls in an attempt to obtain a refund for half of
what we'd spent, for services we never received - only to have our
phone calls and letters ignored. While I'm sure we'll never
recoup our hard earned money from Airline Limousine Corp. - my hope
is that with the power of the internet we'll be able to warn others
and save them from making the same mistakes.
So - if you're traveling to Vegas, and looking for quick cheap
transportation, take a cab. Wait in line for a cab just like
everybody else, you'll be surprised just how quickly that line
moves, and whatever you do, do NOT give a penny to Airline Limousine
Corp - you'll be glad you didn't :-)
If you're interested in hearing the opinions of my friends and
fellow travelers, please contact me directly and I'll be happy to
put them in touch with you, and they'll be more than happy to share
their experience with the Airline Limousine Corp.
Thanks for listening!
